평택시자원봉사센터(센터장 방미옥)는 3월10일 팽성읍 캠프 험프리스 94군사경찰대대(대대장 초클리)에서 영문소식지 ‘사랑의 수레’ 발간 보고회를 가졌다.

이 영문소식지는 주한미군 94군사경찰대대 557군사경찰중대 미군과 카투사가 통·번역 재능기부에 나섰는데 평택시자원봉사센터 창립 이래 처음 발간된 것으로 의미가 더욱 깊다.

영문소식지는 관공서와 부대내에 비치, 주한미군 가족들에게 홍보될 예정이다.

이날 행사는 자원봉사센터 2022년 사업 소개와 질의응답 시간을 통해 지역사회에서 다양한 자원봉사활동 기여방법과 생각을 공유하는 시간이 됐다.

아울러 주한미군 94군사경찰대대가 평택시자원봉사센터 영문소식지 번역에 동참을 약속했다.

초클리 대대장은 “94군사경찰대대는 헌병으로 구성, 지역 주민들과 함께 협동해 활동하면서 유대관계 형성을 위해 힘쓰고 있다. 이런 가운데 평택시자원봉사센터와 인연으로 좋은 프로그램에 참여하는 기회를 얻어 감사하다”고 소감을 전했다.

이에 방미옥 센터장은 “평택시 지역특성을 고려한 주한미군들의 자원봉사 참여 기회를 확대하겠다” 며 “영문소식지 발간으로 자원봉사 수요처 기관을 이용하는 외국인들에게 활발한 자원봉사 문화조성에 도움될 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

한편 평택시자원봉사센터는 지역특색을 살려 주한미군, 기업 등과 교류를 점진적으로 확대하면서 다양한 자원봉사･사회공헌 활동을 전개할 계획이다.

The Pyeongtaek City Volunteer Center (Center Director Bang Mi-ok) held a briefing session on March 10 at Camp Humphreys 94th Military Police Battalion (Captain Chokely), Paengseong-eup, to publish the English newsletter "The Cart of Love."

The English newsletter is even more meaningful as it was first published since the establishment of the Pyeongtaek City Volunteer Center, with the U.S. military and Kattusa of the 557th Military Police Company of the U.S. Forces Korea.

The English newsletter will be placed in government offices and units and promoted to families of USFK.

The event became a time to share various methods and thoughts of contributing to volunteer activities in the community through the introduction of the 2022 project of the Volunteer Center and question-and-answer session.

In addition, the 94th Military Police Battalion of the USFK promised to participate in the translation of the English newsletter of the Pyeongtaek Volunteer Center.

The 94th Military Police Battalion is composed of military police and is working together with local residents to form ties. "In the meantime, I am grateful to have the opportunity to participate in a good program through my relationship with the Pyeongtaek City Volunteer Center," he said.

In response, Bang Mi-ok, head of the center, said, "We will expand the opportunity for USFK troops to participate in volunteer work considering the regional characteristics of Pyeongtaek Taxi," adding, "We expect the publication of English newsletter to help foreigners use volunteer culture."

Meanwhile, the Pyeongtaek City Volunteer Center plans to gradually expand exchanges with USFK and companies by taking advantage of regional characteristics and carry out various volunteer and social contribution activities.
