Asia's largest theme park using the brand of Paramount, a global entertainment company and global content intellectual property holder, will be built at Hwaseong International Theme Park, which is being promoted by private development in the western part of Gyeonggi Province.

"If the project develops tourism programs linked to the west coast, it will become a national and international landmark. We have quenched our thirst for the past 17 years."

"In February this year, we announced the grand development of SOCs in western Gyeonggi Province, which includes infrastructure such as roads and railways, with an annual investment of 14 trillion won (approx. Hwaseong City is the most important centerpiece for western development. The creation of a theme park will drive the successful development. We will actively support the development together with Hwaseong City."

Mayor Chung Myung-geun said, "Starting with today's declaration ceremony, the city, along with Shinsegae, will accelerate the innovative futuristic tourism complex industry to become a representative cultural center in Korea. It will be reborn as a tourist attraction in the world," adding, "We will mobilize our administrative capabilities to ensure that the aspirations of provincial residents and citizens who have waited for 17 years can be achieved as soon as possible."

Lim Young-rok, president of Shinsegae Group, said, "The theme park using the Paramount brand is not just an amusement park, but a space where customers can experience the characters and stories they have imagined in reality and enjoy different pleasures, inspiration, and healing."

"Star Bay City is an excellent location for both domestic and foreign visitors to access, a large site that will introduce various amusement facilities, and nearby tourism resources," said Marie Marks, head of Paramount Entertainment. "We will cooperate with Shinsegae, which has the capacity to create space value, to create a globally recognized theme park."

With Paramount's decision as a global partner, Shinsegae Hwaseong Co., Ltd. plans to create a theme park by introducing brands and characters owned by Paramount.

Paramount is a global content distributor and is a mega media company with a number of channels, including Paramount Pictures, one of the top five major studios in Hollywood, CBS, Nickelodeon, a cable network specializing in children, and MTV, a cable network specializing in music.

Hwaseong International Theme Park, which uses the Paramount brand, is expected to be established as an unprecedented theme park and Asian landmark where people can enjoy joy, inspiration, and healing by creating a fantastic content world of Paramount that has only been met by media in real life.

Hwaseong International Theme Park is a large-scale project that costs 4.57 trillion won (100% private investment) to build about 4.230 square kilometers on the eastern side of Songsan Green City in Sinoe-ri, Namyang-eup, Hwaseong-si, and the project has been canceled twice over the past 17 years.

It has completed the establishment of a tourism complex development plan in the second half of 2025 and aims to open it in 2029.

The provincial government and Hwaseong-si plan to actively support the administration for the smooth creation and opening of Hwaseong International Theme Park.

The province expects that the creation of a complex resort-type theme park that combines entertainment facilities such as theme parks and water parks, Starfield, hotels, resorts, and golf courses will create about 110,000 jobs and attract up to 30 million tourists annually to boost domestic tourism as well as create the effect of regional economic development (70.6 trillion won in production inducement effect).

In particular, it is expected to become an important pillar that will drive infrastructure expansion and economic development on the west coast of Gyeonggi Province in conjunction with the "Great Development of the Western Gyeonggi Province" project being pursued by the province.
